Chemical Peels

Conveniently located to serve Naples, Bonita Springs, and Estero

At Houck Dermatology, our skincare experts perform chemical peels for Bonita Springs, Estero, Fort Myers, and Naples patients in search of a way to revitalize their skin. Peels are a non-surgical way to give the face a more youthful appearance – no scalpels or incisions required.

What Is a Chemical Peel?

Exfoliation is a fundamental skin process that removes the top layers of dead, dry skin cells to expose newer, younger skin underneath. Chemical peels are a wonderful option for exfoliation that can be customized to your individual needs. Chemical peels remain a top choice for patients looking for safety, reliable results, and the ability to modify the depth of the exfoliation to the amount of correction they need.

Peels use a chemical solution in a controlled manner to loosen the outermost layers of skin. The chosen peel solution is applied to the skin and left on for a set amount of time before it is removed or neutralized. Some peels allow you to see a brighter complexion immediately, while others require several days of peeling and/or flaking before your new skin is revealed.

Chemical Peel Benefits

Chemical peels can be used to treat a variety of common skin issues and concerns ranging from aesthetic issues like fine lines to issues like acne and rosacea. Depending on the depth of the peel selected, your treatment can address the following concerns:

  • Fine lines
  • Pigmentation irregularities
  • Acne scarring
  • Acne
  • Rough skin texture
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Signs of sun damage

Is a Chemical Peel Right for Me?

Our Aesthetician will take the time to assess your skin before treatment to determine whether a chemical peel might meet your needs and desired results. With a diversity of peel options to choose from, we will also be able to tailor your procedure to your skin type, tone, and concerns.

Options for Chemical Peels

Chemical peels come in three basic categories; superficial, medium, and deep. We offer superficial and medium peels in our office, as deep peels require anesthesia. Our diversity of peels allows us to address a broad range of patient needs.

Superficial Peels

Also known as light or lunchtime peels, these chemical solutions usually contain active ingredients like salicylic acid, glycolic acid and lactic acid. The primary purpose of a superficial peel is to rejuvenate the skin and restore a healthy, hydrated glow. The treatment may also minimize the appearance of minor skin blemishes. These treatments are mild enough to repeat regularly, which is recommended to extend your results.

ZO® Stimulator Peel

The perfect “Lunch Time Peel” with no downtime. This peel utilizes a beta/alpha acid peel technology to stimulate cell turnover, reducing fine lines and wrinkles. It improves overall skin tone, texture, and clarity. It also stimulates cell turnover to reveal clear fresh skin underneath for ongoing skin health.

Hydraradiance Peel

This peel incorporates a Lactic Acid which is preferred option drier or sensitive skins. This is a nice option for introduction to the peeling treatments. This treatment includes specialized serum for your skin type and an appropriate mask.

Beta Clarity Peel

Deeply cleanses pores with antiseptic properties. Beta Hydroxy Acids are drawn to oil in the pores, and help to peel down into the follicle wall. Recommended for acne prone skin.

GlyPro Resurfacing Peel

A fast exfoliant Glycolic Acid at 30% helps to regenerate the skin and increase cell turnover. Improves the appearance of fine lines, uneven skin tone and texture.

Medium Peels

Medium peels work slightly deeper into the layers of the skin to create a revived appearance that is more noticeable and long-lasting. Typical active ingredients in medium peels include trichloroacetic acid (TCA), glycolic acid (in higher concentrations than a superficial peel), and Jessner’s solution.

These procedures can involve some flaking and/or peeling. You will want to avoid sun exposure and excessive sweating for a few days after you receive your peel.

ZO® 3-Step Peel

This is a potent peel that maximizes textural issues and produces longer lasting results. It is designed to remove the outermost layers of the skin to improve color, tone, texture, and smoothness. It is suitable for acne, post-inflammatory and chronic hyper pigmentation, sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles, texture, roughness, large pores and dullness.

Treatment Basics

We perform all chemical peels in our office and the amount of time scheduled will be 60 minutes and that will, include time for skin analysis and choosing the right peel for your skin.

Once the skin is cleansed and prepped, the peel solution will be applied and left on for a set amount of time. At that point, the peel is neutralized if needed and removed. Additional products may be applied to your skin after the peel to calm and protect.

What to Expect After Your Chemical Peel

The recovery period following your chemical peel in Bonita Springs will depend on the depth of the peel and other factors. Lighter peels may result in some redness and sensitivity. Deeper peels may produce more discomfort and cause side effects like crusting around the treated skin.

Chemical Peel Cost

During your consultation at Houck Dermatology, we will discuss preparation, cost, the peel recovery process, and the details of the treatment. Price will be determined by the type of chemical peel performed.
