Botox

Conveniently located to serve Naples, Bonita Springs, and Estero

Botox is an injectable cosmetic treatment designed to relax muscle activity and reduce lines and wrinkles on the face. Treatments of Botox in Bonita Springs, Estero, Fort Myers, and Naples can relax contracted muscles, resulting in fewer lines and wrinkles.

Botox is a very common FDA-approved in-office cosmetic procedure manufactured by Allergan. The product is composed of botulinum toxin type A.

Which Issues Can Be Treated Using Botox?

Botox is effective for treating both existing wrinkles and preventing new ones. The most common areas for treatment are horizontal forehead lines, the frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines), and the lines around the eyes (crow’s feet). It also addresses chin wrinkles and platysmal neck bands.

This injectable can also be used to relax an overly masculine jaw and jawline, treat migraine headaches and resolve hyperhidrosis (excess sweating in regions like the armpits).

Am I a Good Candidate for Botox?

Botox is an excellent non-surgical treatment option for patients who have wrinkles caused by contracted facial muscles.

Patients who have moderate or deeper wrinkles around the nose and mouth, volume loss in the cheeks, thin lips, or undereye hollows can benefit more from dermal fillers than from Botox injections.

Botox is not recommended while pregnant or breastfeeding. Botox is not indicated for patients with neuromuscular conditions including Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), Myasthenia Gravis, and Lambert-Eaton Syndrome.

How Is Botox Administered?

Botox is best administered by an experienced provider with skill, knowledge, and precision. A provider using proper techniques will help to ensure the best result. At Houck Dermatology, we strive to deliver outstanding outcomes for each patient based on their concerns.

During a treatment session, the face is first marked as a guide for the injector. Either topical or local anesthesia is then administered to numb the treatment regions. Finally, injections of Botox are delivered into the targeted muscles.

After receiving your Botox injections, you can resume most of your daily activities without recovery time. Patients often get Botox injections performed on their lunch break.

It is best to avoid strenuous activities and do not lie down for at least 4 hours after treatment to help prevent Botox migration to unintended areas of your face. It is also recommended to avoid facial massages or facial rubbing for at least 48 hours after treatment.

The results of Botox are usually noticeable within a few days but it usually takes about 2 weeks to notice the full result. The results tend to last between 3-6 months requiring patients to receive 2 or 3 treatments a year to maintain results.

The common side effects of Botox include minor bruising and redness which can be treated with pressure and ice immediately after the injections. Other less common side effects include eyelid drooping, uneven smile and uneven eyebrows.

Botox Cost

The cost of Botox will vary depending on how many areas are treated and the number of units injected. While the average price of treatment is around $500, we customize each treatment depending on your goals during your consultation appointment.
