Mario Mitkov, M.D. joined Houck Dermatology in July 2025 as a board-certified Dermatologist and Fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon.
Dr. Mitkov has performed over 14,000 surgeries and has presented his original research at national conferences and has published articles in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, Dermatologic Surgery, and JAMA Dermatology. Dr. Mitkov is a Fellow of both the American Academy of Dermatology as well as the American College of Mohs Surgery, and remains an active member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.
Dr. Mitkov received his undergraduate degree from the University of California at Davis, where he graduated with honors. While at UC Davis he was a member of the crew team, competing at national regattas as stroke seat of the top freshman and varsity boats. He then received his medical degree from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, graduating cum laude. While in medical school, he received numerous academic scholarships and was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha society for graduating at the top of his class. He subsequently completed his intern year and Dermatology residency at the world-renowned Mayo Clinic, working with leading experts in skin disease and cutaneous oncology. Dr. Mitkov completed his fellowship training in Mohs Micrographic Surgery, Cutaneous Oncology, and Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Houston Methodist Hospital.
